End-of-field Season Thank You Event
Utah’s Hogle Zoo will be hosting an appreciation event for community scientists!
When: August 22nd from 6 to 8 PM
Where: RendeZoo Room, 2600 Sunnyside Avenue Salt Lake City, UT 84108
A short presentation on the 2019 field season’s findings will be given and snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Mid-Season Updates: Whether you've joined us at the training event, on a survey trip, or you're still planning to join us, we wanted to share some updates from the field season thus far!
Utah’s snow pack was approximately 200% above average this year, which meant some of our survey locations were not accessible until later in the season and toad breeding activity was likely delayed.
Over 50 toads of multiple age classes were located on Thousand Lake Mountain.
Four toadlets were located at Silver Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon (a site without confirmed boreal toad presence in years).
To date, over 20 community scientists have joined us on field surveys and over 60 field surveys have been completed.
Reminder: You can still sign up to join us on field trips through the Boreal Toad Habitat Assessments: Community Scientist Resources page.
