Utah Predators

We have a long history of working with fellow conservation organizations as well as state and federal agency biologists and managers in Utah and the Intermountain West to advocate for science based management of wide-ranging predators, such as lynx, wolves, black bear, cougar and coyotes.

MANAGEMENT PLAN WORKING GROUPS:

  • UDWR Black Bear Management Plan, 2000: Wild Utah Project Director, Allison Jones, authored the section on non-lethal deterrents for black bears.
  • UDWR Wolf Conservation and Management Plan, 2005: After providing up-to-date wolf and population ecology literature, Wild Utah Project ultimately asked to be removed from authors named on the document as a result of the development of an overly punitive plan.
  • UDWR Cougar Management Plan, 2015: Wild Utah Project Ecologist and Conservation Biologist, Mary Pendergast, served as an alternate to this working group and provided recent population ecology literature to the document.
